Celine Vanweydeveld is in her second year as the women's tennis assistant coach at Drexel. Her guidance last season helped steady the team after a slow start to finish the season winning four of its final six matches. Vanweydeveld brings a great deal of coaching and playing experience on both national and international levels to the team.
Vanweydeveld came to Drexel after a successful collegiate career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she anchored the Ragin' Cajuns splitting time at first and second singles for the No. 74 team in the nation. Vanweydeveld was a highly touted prospect coming out of high school in Lycee of Louis Rascol in Toulouse, France. She was offered scholarships by national powers Florida and Texas in addition to Louisiana-Lafayette.
During her high school career she won numerous regional tournaments in France and Belgium and reached the pinacle of her young career by qualifying for the 1998 French Open. Vanweydeveld also made her first foray into coaching while she was in high school, successfully completing an intensive professional tennis coaching course run by the legendary Molina tennis club in Barcelona, Spain.
After graduating from Louisiana-Lafayette, Vanweydeveld served as a tennis coach and professional at various clubs in the United States, Spain and France before landing at Drexel where she is currently pursuing a master's degree.
