Sanchez, Mason Lead Drexel Past Sam Houston State in NIT Season Tip-Off

Drexel held the Bearkats without a field goal for a span of just under 11 minutes from late in the first half until the 14:02 mark of the second half. Sanchez, who was 7-for-9 from the floor in the second half, had four of his points during the run. Drexel shot 59 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
Sam Houston State came out red hot from the floor in the first half. The Bearkats made their first nine shots in the game and led 17-10 early. The Dragons eventually tied the score at 24-24 when Frank Elegar (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) converted a three-point play. The teams went to the half tied at 33.
Bashir Mason (Jersey City, N.J./St. Benedict's) led Drexel with 18 points and seven assists. He was one of four players in double figures. Dominick Mejia (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) added 13, while Elegar had career-highs of 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Dragons play one more game before heading to New York. Drexel will face Rider on Monday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center at 7:30 p.m.
