Mejia, Mason Power Drexel Past Old Dominion, 61-42

Drexel trailed 4-3 in the opening minutes but held the Monarchs (6-2, 1-1) without a point for a stretch of 13 minutes and 10 seconds. During that stretch, the Dragons outscored Old Dominion, 18-0, and took a 21-4 lead. Old Dominion shot just 12 percent in the first half, making only three field goals, and trailed at intermission, 31-10. The Monarchs were 0-for-11 from beyond the arc in the first half. The 10 points were the least amount of points a Drexel team has given up in a half since record keeping began in the 1940's.
ODU scored the first five points of the second half to cut the lead to 16, but Drexel countered with a 7-0 run and the Monarchs did not get within 20 points again. The Dragons shot 39 percent from the floor but made 45 percent of their three-point attempts (9-for-20) and dominated ODU on the boards, 46-30. The Monarchs finished the game 23 percent from the floor and just 3-for-18 from long range.
Mejia made seven three-pointers on the day, tying his career-high set last year against Monmouth. He was set up on numerous occasions by Mason, who committed just one turnover in 35 minutes of play as he set a career high for assists.
Kenell Sanchez (Camden, N.J./Bishop Eustace) had another solid performance with 15 points and seven rebounds. He was 6-for-10 from the floor and also had three assists. Timmy Tillman (Philadelphia, Pa./Virginia Episcopal) came off the bench and grabbed seven rebounds in 18 minutes.
Arnaud Dahi was ODU's only player in double figures with 12 points. CAA Preseason Player of the Year Alex Loughton was held scoreless in 14 minutes of play before leaving early in the second half with an apparent minor injury.
The Dragons are off until next Saturday, when they visit Fairleigh Dickinson in Teaneck, N.J. Drexel's next home game is on Dec. 20, when Ball State visits the Daskalakis Athletic Center for a 7:30 contest..
