Boston, Mass. - Catherine Scanlon compiled her second-straight double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds and Narissa Suber led all scorers with 22 points as Drexel (6-5, 1-1 CAA) shot past Northeastern (4-7, 0-2 CAA), 71-43, in the teams' first CAA meeting.
Drexel used a 12-3 run midway through the first half led by Suber's outside shooting, which remained on target after her career-best 24-point performance at Howard her last time out. Scanlon, Suber and Nicole Hester combined to score 36 of the team's 39 points in the first period which took the Dragons into the locker room with a commanding 39-24 lead.
A 6-0 run to open the second stanza called the Huskies home early with a 21-point deficit that they could not overcome. A pair of Hester lay-ups stretched the lead to 26 points with 5:38 remaining. Hester finished with 13 points in the game.
Suber drilled four three-pointers in the contest, leaving her one short of second place on Drexel's all-time three-point shooting list. She also went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, extending her free-throw shooting streak to 17 straight.
Drexel travels to New York to take on Hofstra on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
