Men's Tennis Falls in First Dual Match of Season

Philadelphia, Pa. - Drexel men's tennis lost to Monmouth 5-2 in the team's first dual match action of the fall season. Omar Laalej and Joe Koebele won their singles matches for the Dragons, but Monmouth went on to win the rest of singles play and defeate the Dragons in doubles play.
At first singles, Laalej, fresh off his solid performance at the ITA All-American Tournament, took down Ben Evenden in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Koebele, whose last action was also at the ITAs in Tulsa, Okla., dispatched Tom Corrie 6-2, 6-4 at second singles. Sabyasachi Bose took Pedro Bruno to three sets at third singles before falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The doubles team of Laalej and Koebele lost in a tiebreaker to Evenden and Corrie as Monmouth went on to sweep in doubles play.
The Dragons are back in action on Oct. 17 when they host St. Francis (N.Y.) at the Vidas Athletic Complex.
