Wrestling Defeats George Mason and American

Fairfax, Va. – Drexel wrestling picked up a pair of victories at George Mason by defeating the host school, 24-18, then toppling American, 25-12. Steve Mytych, Morgan Remillard, Ryan Hluschak and Justin Wieller won both of their matches to help the Dragons improve to 3-1 on the season.

Steve Mytych defeated Denny Herndon of George Mason, 4-2, to give the Dragons a 3-0 lead. A win by fall by Mason's Joe Coughlin put the Patriots ahead, 6-3, but Drexel would reel off victories in the next four matches, including six-point wins by Hluschak and Billy Haydt. Hluschak pinned Frankie McLaughlin at 1:00 while Haydt was ahead 14-3 before his opponent, Andrew Rock, defaulted due to injury.

Against American, Mytych once again gave the Dragons an early lead with a 14-1 major decision victory over Jasen Borshoff. The Eagles closed the gap with a victory at 133 pounds. Remillard won by decision at 141 pounds but American responded with a victory at 149 pounds. The Dragons would put the match out of reach by winning three of the next four matches by major decisions. Hluschak beat Christopher Stout, 19-9, at 157 pounds, Scott Hunter defeated Jonathon Powell, 11-3, and Justin Wieller topped Andrew Semple, 12-4 to give Drexel a 19-9 lead.

Drexel returns to the mat on Dec. 16 as the Dragons will compete in the Lock Haven Duals.
