Harrisonburg, Va. - Lost the first two games of its three-game conference series against CAA leader James Madison on Saturday. The Dragons (15-13, 6-7 CAA) fell 8-3 in game one and 7-3 in game two. Brianne Brown went 3-for-6 with two doubles and four RBIs on the day, setting a new single-season record for runs batted in with 29 this season.
The Dukes used a six-run second inning to pull away for the victory in the opener. Jenny Clohan, the CAA's wins leader got the victory. For the Dragons, Amanda Shattuck incurred the loss after giving up five runs in one and one-third innings of work. Katrina Gaudier pitched effectively in relief for the final four and two-thirds innings. Christina Rodriguez went 2-for-3 at the plate.
In the nightcap, Drexel took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a two-RBI double by Brown, which made her the new single-season RBI leader at Drexel. The Dukes put five runs on the board in the bottom of the inning, however, and never looked back. CAA Pitcher of the Week Meredith Felts got the win after allowing just three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Katrina Gaudier took the loss, letting up four runs in three and one-third innings.
Drexel closes out the series tomorrow at noon in Harrisonburg, Va.
