Raum's Overtime Goal Gives Drexel a 3-2 Win at No.16 Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa. – Drexel rallied from a 2-0 deficit and defeated Lehigh, 3-2, in overtime. Leland Raum scored the game-winner in the final minute of the extra period as the Dragons handed the Mountain Hawks their first loss at home since 2004. It was the season-opener for both teams. Lehigh entered the game ranked 16th in the College Soccer News Preseason Poll.
The Mountain Hawks and Dragons played to a scoreless first half. Lehigh was in control for a majority of the half as they recorded six shots including two scoring chances by Adam Welch and Jim Taranto, that werer turned away by Drexel goalie Derrec Mongan.
Drexel forward Anthony Bafile had a breakaway early in the second half, but Lehigh keeper Brian Lee, in his first game as a Mountain Hawk, was able to smother it to keep the game scoreless. Lehigh struck first with a breakaway goal by sophomore Kyle Evans in the 48th minute. Less than ten minutes later, Taranto put the Mountain Hawks up by two, as Evans assisted on the goal.
The Dragons wouldn't go away quietly however, as Anthony Bafile put in two goals late in the second half to tie the game up at 2-2. The first goal, at the 67 minute mark, was set up by Cole Feffer and Nate Baker. Bafile tied the game with just 3:31 left.
Raum's game-winning goal was set up by Fabio Assumpcao and Thiago Assumpcao. The Dragons will try and start the season with two-straight wins on Sept. 4 when they travel across town to take on Philadelphia University.
