Lansdale, Pa. - The Drexel wrestling team dropped a 35-6 decision to visiting Purdue in a non-conference match held at North Penn High School. The match completed an ambitious day for the Dragons as Drexel faced Stanford at the Daskalakis Athletic Center earlier in the day. The loss dropped Drexel to 5-4 on the season while the Boilermakers improved to 3-2.
Drexel opened the match with a victory at 125 pounds as Steve Mytych earned an 8-2 decision over Akif Eren as the junior did not allow a takedown in the match. The win was Mytych's 19th of the season. The Boilermakers took the next three matches before Ryan Hluschak earned an 8-6 win at 157 pounds to close the Purdue lead to 11-6. The Boilermakers would take the final five matches including wins by fall at 184 and 197 pounds.
The Dragons return to action on Jan. 11 at the prestigious Virginia Duals. Seedings and pairing for the two-day event will be announced next week.
