Northeastern Handles Drexel, 79-45

Boston, Mass. - Northeastern shot 68 percent from the floor in the first half and cruised to a 79-45 win against Drexel on Wednesday night. The Dragons (8-8, 1-3 CAA) had their worst shooting game of the season, making only 29 percent of their shots as they lost their second straight game. Northeastern improved to 6-8 overall and 2-2 in CAA play.
The Huskies opened the game with a 14-2 run to take the lead for good early. Drexel chipped away and cut the lead to 17-12 before Northeastern went on another big run, scoring 19 of the next 21 points. Matt Janning, who led the Huskies with 21 points, had 14 of those in the first half. He finished the game a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor. Northeastern led 43-19 at intermission.
Randy Oveneke led the Dragons with 11 points and seven rebounds. He was the only Dragon in double figures. Frank Elegar was held without a field goal and had just two points in the game. Scott Rodgers added nine points, but was just 4-for-14 shooting. Head Coach Bruiser Flint shook up the line-up in the second half, starting Rob Hampton, Lance Feurtado, Kenny Tribbett, Jamie Harris and Randy Oveneke. Walk-on Stuart Cameron saw his first action of the season and had three points and two rebounds.
