Hynes Repeats Sweep at Terrapin Cup Invitational

College Park, Md. – Drexel diver Kate Hynes defended her 2007 Terrapin Cup Invitational wins by sweeping both boards for the second straight season. Hynes earned the Dragons 40 team points as she won the 1-meter board with a score of 288.20 before capturing the 3-meter dive with a score of 335.00. Overall, Drexel placed eighth among 10 teams participating at the event.
Hynes took the 1-meter dive with a score of 288.20 after winning the preliminary with a score of 284.90. On the 3-meter board, Hynes racked up a total of 335.00 to keep her unbeaten on the season. Her total was 26.85 points higher than Maryland's Alison Kurbatova who took second place.
In the 400 medley relay, Devina Tyagi, Sarah Keeley, Kaitlin Slowey and Jessica Csakai took eighth among designated 'A' relay teams from each participating school when they clocked a time of 4:02.61. In the 800 free relay, Maria Coman, Morgan Cichewicz, Malin Wiberg and Csakai placed seventh among all 'A' relay teams with a time of 7:51.86 as the foursome shaved more than seven seconds off of their time in the preliminary. In the 400 free relay, Coman, Meg Smith, Csakai and Wiberg teamed to place eighth with a time of 3:38.56.
Keeley won the Bonus Consolation final in the 100 breast when she recorded a time of 1:06.84. She took 17th in the event, though her time was 12th best among all participants in all finals. Kaitlin Slowey qualified for the bonus consolation in the 200 fly where she eventually took 24th place with a time of 2:12.06.
