Dragons Claim Second Win of the Weekend, 5-2, Over Colgate

Philadelphia - Drexel men's tennis picked up its second win of the weekend with a 5-2 victory over Colgate at Swarthmore College on Sunday. The Dragons took two of three doubles matches to claim a team point and went on two win four singles matches led by a dominant performance by Nick Bacchus at fourth singles. The freshman won his third straight singles match with a 6-1, 6-3 straight-set win over Phil Bernasek and he also teamed with Sabayaschi Bose for an 8-1 win at third doubles. Bose also won his singles match as did senior Omar Laalej who anchored the team at first singles and first doubles with partner Jason Savage-Pollock.
Laalej and Savage-Pollock won 9-7 at first doubles in a reprise of a match against Tyler Deck and Martin McIntyre, a pairing they defeated in the fall a the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament. Laalej defeated McIntyre 6-5, 7-5 at first singles and Joe Koebele put away Deck 6-3, 6-4 at second singles.
Bacchus clinched the match for Drexel with his win over Bernasek. Carlo Pangilinan dropped a tough three-set match to John Nogueras at third singles after winning the opening set 6-3. Jason Savage-Pollock fell in straight sets at fifth singles against Michael Yassky 7-5, 6-2.
The Dragons will be back in action on Feb. 17 when they travel to play St. Peter's at 12:30.
