Statesboro, Ga. - Drexel softball dropped its first game of the season and surrendered its first loss as the Georgia Southern Tournament, falling 8-3 to Campbell in the team's first game of the day on Saturday. Lead-off hitter Christina Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Senior Molly Dacey drove in two of the Dragons' three runs and went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Drexel fell behind 1-0 when starter Katrina Gaudier, who earned Drexel's first win of the season yesterday, surrendered a two-out home run. The Dragons evened it in the top of the third inning, but the Camels hung four runs on the board in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-1 lead that they would not relinquish.
Gaudier incurred the loss, dropping to 1-1 on the season, after allowing five runs on eight hits in three innings of work. Freshman Ellen Boundy worked three innings in relief of Gaudier and let up three runs on four hits and a walk.
The Dragons are back in action at 1:00 on Saturday against Jacksonville State.
