Statesboro, Ga. - Drexel closed out its weekend of softball at the Georgia Southern Tournament with losses to Radford and the host Georgia Southern on Sunday. The Dragons fell in a tight 4-2 game against Radford despite rallying from a 4-0 deficit in the fifth inning. In the final game of the tournament Drexel lost to Georgia Southern 8-1, dropping to 3-3 on the season.
Breanna Gomez got the start against Radford in the Dragons' Sunday morning game. The sophomore hurler got touched up for two runs in three and a third innings of work and was the pitcher of record in the loss. Drexel put one run on the board in the bottom of the fifth and another in the seventh inning but the Dragons' rally fell just short. Carla Waldron and Ashley Botelho both had doubles in the game and Waldron drove in one run.
In the final game of the tournament, the Dragons were plagued by errors in an 8-1 loss to the host. Four Drexel miscues led to five unearned runs. Starter Katrina Gaudier let up two earned runs in five and two-thirds innings of work. She also struck out three batters and let up eight hits to take the loss and drop to 1-2 on the season.
Drexel is back in action on Feb. 27 when the Dragons travel to California to play in the Santa Clara Tournament against North Dakota, Boston College, Sacramento, Campbell and Santa Clara.
