Second Half Offensive Explosion Propels Drexel Past Virginia Tech, 13-10

Blacksburg, Va. - Jessica Bill had three goals and an assist as the Drexel women's lacrosse team opened the season with a 13-10 victory at Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons broke open a close game with six straight goals in the second half in recording their first victory ever against an Atlantic Coast Conference team.
The Dragons led 7-5 at halftime but Virginia Tech tied it up with just under 22 minutes remaining. Drexel answered with six straight goals to take control of the contest. Becca Drylie-Perkins started the run with a goal for the Dragons. Gwenna Johnson gave Drexel a two-goal lead and the offense caught fire, scoring five times in a span of just 1:48.
Johnson scored three times in the contest for the Dragons, while Sarah Carter, Katie Bradley and Drylie-Perkins each scored twice. Carter also had a pair of assists.
Rachel Culp, Kady McBrearty and freshman Allie Emala each scored two goals for the Hokies. Drexel dominated the draw controls, winning 17 of a possible 25.
