Scarlet Knights Topple Dragons, 24-13

The Drexel wrestling team dropped a 24-13 decision to Rutgers in the Dragons' final road dual meet of the season. The Scarlet Knights were victorious in seven of 10 bouts as they improved to 11-7 while the Dragons dipped to 10-14.
Rutgers took the match's first two bouts as Matt Pletcher earned an overtime victory over Billy Haydt at 165 pounds before Scott Hunter was out-pointed by Mike Whalen, 8-3. Drexel's Dave Woodall gave the Dragons its first victory as he earned a 3-1 win over Keith Dobish. Rutgers reeled off two more victories, including a win by major decision at 197 pounds. At 125 pounds, Steve Mytych notched his 33rd win of the season and 13th by major decision as he defeated Mike DeMarco, 12-0. The junior is among the top five in the nation among all weight classes in wins by major decision.
Rutgers clinched the match by taking the next three bouts before Ryan Hluschak capped the day with a win by fall at 125 pounds as he pinned Rutgers' Jaime Lijo at 3:48.
The Dragons return to action on Sunday as Lehigh will visit the Daskalakis Atheltic Center for Drexel's final dual match of the season. Prior to the match, seniors Ryan Hluschak, Billy Martin and Morgan Remillard will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
