Dragons Drop BracketBusters Game to Fairfield, 60-51

Philadelphia, Pa. – Fairfield's Jonathan Han scored seven points in the final 2:08 as Fairfield pulled away and defeated Drexel, 60-51 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Stags won for the sixth straight time, while the Dragons dropped their second straight game.
Fairfield (13-14) led by just one at 49-48 after Drexel's Randy Oveneke (Antwerpen, Belgium/Saint-Anna College) scored on a put back with 2:49 left. The Stags answered by scoring the next seven points to take a 57-49 lead with 33 ticks left on the clock. Herbie Allen started the run with a three-pointer and then Han picked off a Scott Rodgers' pass at the top of the key and raced down court for an uncontested lay-up.
Drexel (11-18) scored only 23 points in the first half, but only trailed by four as the defense played well in the early going. The Dragons forced seven Stags' turnovers in the first half and Fairfield shot just 35 percent from the floor. Drexel led for the last time in the game at 7-5 as the Stags went on an early 9-0 run sparked by five points from Greg Nero.
Oveneke led Drexel with 12 points of 6-for-10 shooting. He was 6-for-10 from the floor and also had six rebounds. He was the only Dragon in double figures. Drexel shots just 36 percent from the floor and only 2-for-10 from behind the arc.
Han led Fairfield with 14 points and a game-high eight assists. Nero added 12 points, while Allen chipped in with 10.
The Dragons have their final home game of the season on Wednesday night at the DAC. The Dragons host James Madison on Senior Night at 7:30 p.m.
