
Varsity Eight Takes Second Place in Spring 2008 Opener

Philadelphia - Drexel women's crew opened its season with an event on the Schuylkill River featuring Lehigh, Delaware and Saint Joseph's. The Dragons' varsity eight took second place while the varsity four boat earned a victory in the three-boat race.
The varsity eight boat topped both Lehigh and Delaware finished just 6 seconds behind last year's Dad Vail silver medalist, Saint Joseph's. The women's varsity eight was down off the start and was able to pull even with Delaware at the 1000-meter mark before overtaking the Blue Hens en route to the second-place finish. The women's varsity four had a strong race finishing five seconds ahead of second-place Saint Joseph's and well ahead of third place Delaware. The Dragons took third in the novice eight race.
