Dragons Fall at No. 12 George Mason, 13-6

Fairfax, Va. - The Drexel women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-6 decision to 12th-ranked George Mason in a Colonial Athletic Association game. The Dragons scored the first two goals of the game before the Patriots reeled off nine straight scores. George Mason improved to 11-3, 4-1 CAA with the win while the Dragons dropped to 10-6, 2-4 CAA.
Jessica Bill opened the game just 70 seconds into the game with a goal on a free-position shot. With 23:20 to go in the first period, Gwenna Johnson took a pass from Bill and scored to put the Dragons ahead, 2-0. The Patriots responded with nine goals starting with a Madalyn Jamison goal on a free-position shot. The run finally ended with five seconds remaining in the half with Megan Bartlett's second goal of the game as George Mason went to halftime with a 9-2 lead.
Senior Nicole Adams came off the bench to try and ignite the Drexel offense in the second half scoring three of the next four of the game's goals to bring Drexel to within 10-5 but Mason put the game away with the next three goals.
Drexel goalie Lauren LaBella made four saves in the first half before being replaced by Rachael Behrndt at halftime. Behrndt made nine second-half saves. George Mason outshot Drexel, 30-22, and corralled 13 of the game's 22 draws.
The Dragons will conclude their season with a road contest at James Madison on Sunday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m.
