Towson, Md. - Gabriela Marginean successfully returned to the tennis court after a five-month hiatus, winning her first-singles match to remain undefeated on the year. But it was not enough to get the Dragons past Towson as the Tigers held on for a 5-2 victory, their first since October.
Senior Hana Stecova picked up Drexel's only other point with a thrilling three-set victory at fourth singles. Stecova came from behind after dropping her opening set to Ashley Peretz 6-3. Stecova pulled out the second set 6-4 and edged Peretz 11-9 in the third-set tiebreaker to pull out the victory.
On the doubles side, Marginean teamed with senior Jaimee Wylie at second doubles to defeat Towson's pairing of Amanda Scatvorchio and Jaclyn Tamburo 8-6. The Dragons' duos fell in the remaining two doubles matches by 8-4 margins to conceed the team point.
Drexel will look to bounce right back on Thursday when the Dragons host a dual men's and women's match against Coppin State. Match play commences at 2:00 p.m. at the Vidas Athletic Complex.
