Men's Crew Wins Kerr Cup, CAA Championship

Philadelphia - The Drexel men's rowing team won the CAA Championship as the Dragons' varsity eight boat captured the Kerr Cup by narrowing edging George Mason at the finish line. Drexel, the host for the 42nd annual Kerr Cup Regatta, also placed first among CAA schools in the novice eight and junior varsity eight race.

The men's varsity eight capped a fantastic day for the men's rowing team by clocking a 6:16.60 to win the Kerr Cup. George Mason took second in the race with a time of 6:19.41. The Dragons' junior varsity eight boat came in second to non-conference opponent Bucknell but took conference honors finishing in 6:27.06, more than 11 seconds better than third-place George Mason. The men's novice eight also came in second place behind Bucknell with a time of 6:26.56, exactly 16 seconds better than the Patriots' third-place entry.

Those top finishes gave the Drexel men's rowing team the CAA Championship as the Dragons compiled 38 points, 11 more than George Mason. Old Dominion took third place with 19 points.
