Binghamton, N.Y. - Drexel women's swimming & diving lost to non-conference opponent Binghamton, 182-118, in a non-conference meet. Jessica Csakai won a pair of distance events for the Dragons while Megan Halicek took the 1- and 3-meter dive. The loss dipped the Dragons' record to 3-3 on the season.
After a Binghamton triumph in the 200 medley relay, Csakai gave the Dragons' their first victory of the meet when she took the 1000 free by more than 23 seconds as she defeated second-place Kelsey Anderson with a time of 10:40.64. The Bearcats won the 200 free but Maria Coman gave Drexel nine points with a victory in the 100 back as she posted a time of 1:00.64. The Bearcats responded with wins in the next six events to put the meet out of reach but Csakai ended the run with her second victory of the day as she took the 500 free with a time of 5:15.74. Binghamton won the 100 fly but freshman Lauren Faykes and Malin Wiberg took first and second place in the 400 IM with times of 4:48.41 and 4:50.70, respectively. The Dragons continued the strong finish by sweeping the top three places in the 400 free relay.
Halicek began her big day with a resounding victory on the 3-meter board as she scored a 246.15, more than 65 points better than second-place Morgan Neal of Binghamton. Elena Verdecchio took third place with a score of 177.15. The 1-meter board saw more of the same from Halicek as she cruised to victory by more than 77 points with a score of 245.63 with Verdeccio taking second place with a score of 168.08 as she topped third-place finisher Liz Esposito by 0.15 points.
