Philadelphia - Seniors Fabio Assumpcao, Mike Crosse, Cole Feffer, Alex Reber and Greg Ermold will lace up their boots for the final time and take to the Vidas Field turf for the season finale tonight against William & Mary (12-4-1, 7-2-1 CAA). The quintet of senior Dragons will be honored in a ceremony 15 minutes prior to the 7:00 p.m. opening kick on Senior Night at the Vidas Athletic Complex on 43rd and Powelton Ave.
Teams: Drexel (5-11-1, 1-8-1) vs. William & Mary (12-4-1, 7-2-1)
Venue: Vidas Field, Philadelphia, Pa.
All-Time Series: William & Mary leads 8-1-0
Last Meeting: Drexel was held off the board as it fell to William & Mary 3-0 in its last match of the season. Despite controlling much of the offensive flow of the game with nine corner kicks and the advantage in shots at 14-10, Drexel was unable to convert any attempts. The Tribe dug in to weather the storm only to shift the momentum their way right before the break. William & Mary's Roger Bothe scored off of a deflected shot assisted by Thomas Price with four seconds remaining in the half. The Tribe continued in the 49th minute when sophomore forward Alan Koger deposited an easy pass into the net. Price finished the scoring with a 25 yard blast in the 71st minute. Senior goalie Cory Robertson made one stop in the contest for Drexel while Andrew McAdams recorded seven for the Tribe. The loss held the Dragons tied for sixth in the CAA with Hofstra.
Entering the Match: Drexel made a stop in North Carolina to make up its original season opener against UNC Wilmington that was postponed due to weather. Wilmington's Brian Harrison recorded a goal and an assist while rookie Etienne Boulanger marked two tallies in the dominate performance that ended in a 5-0 defeat of the Dragons. Midfielders Daniel Roberts and Kirk Hudgins also added to the final score. Despite being held off the board, Drexel outshot Wilmington 16-14, and forced goalie Brock Duckworth to make nine saves to keep the clean sheet. Sophomore Tim Washam got his fourth start of the season and made three saves in the loss.
Players to Watch: Seniors Alex Reber (GK), Fabio Assumpcao (MF), Cole Feffer (MF), Mike Crosse (F), and Greg Ermold (D) will all be taking the pitch for the last time as Dragons under the lights for their final match at Vidas Field. Reber took the net for Drexel six times this season as he recorded the lowest goals against average on the team and one of the team's two shutouts. Assumpcao has started all 17 matches for the Dragons and leads the team with seven goals and three assists. Feffer played in 14 contests for Drexel while recording his second career goal in a 4-1 loss to Hofstra and assisted on the game tying goal against VCU. Crosse missed just one match up top for the Dragons as he tied his career high four goals from last season. Ermold captained the back line for Drexel this season with his aggressive play on the ground and dominate performance in the air.
