Men's Swimming & Diving Pick Up Two Victories

Philadelphia - The Drexel men's swimming & diving team pulled out a pair of victories at Drexel Pool as the Dragons defeated George Washington, 154-133, and Villanova, 150-149. The wins moved Drexel's record to 4-2 on the season.
Drexel opened the meet with an overall first-place finish in the 200 medley relay as T.J. Southmayd, Sherif Madkour, Armagan Yavuz and Jesse McGrath finished in 1:37.86 to edge George Washington by 0.27 seconds. Adrian Sabovici continued his strong season by giving the Dragons nine team points against both opponents when he won the 1000 free in 9:52.24. Sherif Madkour picked up an important win in the 100 breast as he topped the next fastest finisher by more than two seconds with his time of 58.86. Yavuz matched Madkour's feat when he won by more than two seconds against both teams with his time of 1:56.58 in the 200 fly. Southmayd then outsprinted all opponents in the 50 free with a time of 21.70 then won the 100 free at 47.88. Madkour picked up his second win of the day with ease as he claimed victory in the 200 breast by more than eight seconds at 2:08.33. Sabovici also won his second event of the day as he swept the distance events with a 4:48.34 time in the 500 free. Yavuz added his name to the list of double winners when he won the 100 fly. Drexel wrapped the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay, touching the wall only after Villanova.
In diving action, Stephen Cal swept both boards with scores of 224.18 in the 3-meter and 212.10 in the 1-meter dive. Andrew McPhillips took third on the 3-meter board as the freshman totaled 162.88.
