Philadelphia - Drexel fell to Georgia State 6-0 in the final game of the Dragons' three-game set against the Panthers this weekend. Drexel fell to 11-8 overall and 1-2 in CAA play while the Panthers improved to 13-11 on the year and 2-1 in conference play. Ashley Botelho's record hitting streak came to an end at 16 straight games as the junior went 0-for-3 in the contest.
Katrina Gaudier incurred the loss after letting up three runs in one and one third innings of work. She was relieved by Hillary Allen who worked the final five and two thirds and allowed three runs on 10 hits and a walk. Georgia State's Alana Thomas held the Dragons' bats in check for most of the afternoon, allowing just four Drexel hits in her complete-game shutout.
The Dragons' best scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the sixth when they loaded the bases on a walk by Sandi Wambold with two outs. But a groundout by Paige Collings ended the inning with three runners stranded on the bases.
Drexel returns to action this week with a home game against city rival Saint Joseph's on Tuesday and a road doubleheader at Bucknell on Wednesday before traveling to North Carolina to take on the UNCW Seahawks in a three-game set next weekend.
