Harrisonburg, Va. - Drexel (20-16, 6-8) closed out its three-game series at James Madison with a 2-0 loss to the Dukes (26-13, 6-8). Meredith Felts threw a complete-game shutout for James Madison to complete the three-game sweep. Ashley Botelho recorded two of Drexel's three hits in the game.
The Dragons' best scoring opportunities came in the third and sixth innings, but both were thwarted by Felts before a run crossed the plate. In the third inning Caprice DeMirjian drew a lead-off walk and Lisa Williams bunted her to second. But Devon Metcalf followed with a pop out and Paige Collings struckout to end the inning.
James Madison scored its only runs of the game in the fourth inning. Ashley Burnham drove in the first on a single with runners on second and third. Julia Dominguez pushed the second across with an RBI groundout.
In the sixth, Drexel strung together back-to-back singles with two outs, but a pop out by Christina Rodriguez ended the Dragons' would-be rally.
Hillary Allen incurred the pitching loss despite working effectively through six innings. She was charged with both earned runs on five hits and a walk and she also fanned four Dukes on the day. Felts let up just three hits and a walk in seven innings and struckout six.
