Old Dominion Doubles Up Dragons, 14-7

Norfolk, Va. - Drexel dropped a 14-7 decision at Old Dominion in a Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse game. The Lady Monarchs got four goals from Ashley Kellogg while Jessica Noone racked up three goals and three assists. Ali Allen was the only Drexel player who turned in a multi-goal game as the freshman tallied twice. Six of Drexel's seven goals came from non-starters including career-first scores from Krista Gerstenberger and Morgan Holbrook. The loss dropped Drexel to 7-8 overall and 0-6 in the CAA while Old Dominion improved to 11-5 and 5-1 in conference play.
The teams exchanged early goals as Saratu Dodo opened the scoring for Old Dominion while Katie Lawson answered with an unassisted tally. Dodo picked up her second goal less than five minutes later and ignited a 6-0 run that was finally halted by Allen with 2:05 remaining in the half. Gerstenberger notched her goal just 21 seconds later to send the game to halftime with the hosts leading, 7-3.
The Dragons crept closer after the break with a score from Danielle Iacono but the Lady Monarchs put the game away as Kellogg's third goal of the game started a 5-0 run that left Old Dominion with a 12-4 advantage. Drexel scored three of the final five goals including an Emily Kane goal with three seconds remaining that made the score 14-7 in favor of Old Dominion.
Old Dominion outshot Drexel, 29-25, though the Dragons won 13 of the game's 23 draws. Drexel goalie Lauren LaBella made eight saves while allowing 12 goals while Whitney Johnson came in late in the second half to record one save. Katie Blazer collected three groundballs and three draw controls while Nicole Musto totaled a game-high four draw controls.
Drexel will return to action on Tuesday, April 21 for its home finale as Wagner visits Vidas Field. Prior to the game, Josie Haller, Kimberly Kabernagel and Lauren LaBella will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
