2/10/2010 11:44:02 AM | Men's Basketball
The Drexel men's basketball team, winners of five of its last six games, take on Hofstra this evening in Hempstead, N.Y. Drexel enters the game with a 9-4 mark in the CAA and a 14-11 overall record. Hofstra is 12-13 and 5-8 in league play.
Drexel and Hofstra will be meeting for the 70th time tonight. Drexel leads the series, 38-31. Drexel won earlier this year in Philly and won both of the meetings last year.
In the first meeting, Chris Fouch came off the bench to score a career-high 29 points as Drexel defeated Hofstra at the DAC, 75-62. The Dragons trailed 8-6 early, but the Pride's lead was short lived. Jamie Harris made a three-pointer and on the next possession converted a three-point play as Drexel went ahead for good. Fouch scored 19 of his 29 points in the first half and was 4-for-6 from long range in the half. The Drexel lead swelled to as many as 30 points midway through the second half after an 11-0 run put the game away. Fouch had seven during that stretch. He finished his career day by making 10 of his 15 shots and was 6-for-11 from behind the arc. Gerald Colds added 15 points, including 11 in the second half. Drexel's defense held Charles Jenkins, the CAA Preseason Co-Player of the Year, to just 13 points, four of which came in the final minutes.
