Dragons Looking to Bounce Back Against Northeastern Tonight at the DAC

Philadelphia - Mired in its first two-game losing skid of the season, Drexel Women's Basketball will attempt to get back on track against Northeastern tonight at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The 7:00 p.m. tip is the second meeting between the Dragons and the Huskies (9-12, 4-7) this season. Drexel (14-8, 8-3) won a high-scoring 91-84 overtime contest in Boston on Jan. 28.
The Dragons return to the DAC tonight after a tough road swing that saw them lose at Towson and James Madison. Drexel fell victim to a hot-shooting Dukes squad in Harrisonburg, Va. on Monday, in a game that was postponed one day due to blizzard conditions in the East. Taking its cue from the weather, the Dragons got off to a cold-shooting start in the opening minutes and had to battle from behind for the duration of the contest. Drexel would close a 13-point deficit down to two, 50-48, with just over eight minutes to play, but James Madison closed out the game on a 23-8 run to claim the 73-56 victory. Gabriela Marginean had a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double and Tyler Hale scored a career-best 12 points, but it was not enough to bring the Dragons from behind in the loss.
Northeastern has won two of three games since its last meeting with Drexel. The Huskies are coming off a 72-57 loss at Towson on Feb. 8. Brittany Wilson led Northeastern with 15 points and nine rebounds while Kim Carr added 12 points and Kashaia Cannon had 10. Shanae Baker-Brice put away the Huskies by scoring 12 of her game-high 29 points in the final three minutes during a 21-9 Towson run.
Tonight's game can be heard live on WKDU 91.7 FM, Drexel's student-run radio station, with Pat Delsi and Kenny Tribbett calling the action. Fans can also catch the game online at www.drexeldragons.com.
