Philadelphia - Drexel softball will host a non-conference game against Saint Joseph's on Wedneaday at Drexel Field following a week in which the Dragons (12-14, 3-6 CAA) went 4-1 with their first conference series victory of the season against UNCW over the weekend. The Hawks (17-12) have won four of six coming into Wednesday's 3:00 p.m. contest.
Sophomore Paige Collings had a break-out week for the Dragons last week. Collings hit .450 on the week with two homers and eight RBIs. She had a walk-off RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning in Drexel's 4-3 win over UNC Wilmington on Saturday and went 3-for-3 with both of Drexel's RBIs in the Dragons' 2-1 win over the Seahawks in the series finale on Sunday. She is now leading the team in RBIs and ranks second in batting average and home runs.
The Hawks are led by sophomore pitcher Erin Gallagher, who is 14-6 on the season with a 1.75 ERA. Batters are hitting just .192 against her on the season. At the plate, Monica Aguilar is the team's leading batter with a .315 average and a team-leading four home runs. Brook Darreff also has four homers on the season and leads the team with 20 RBIs.
Saint Joseph's leads the all-time series against Drexel 21-18 and the Hawks won the teams' last meeting 8-2 last season. In that game, Gallagher held the Dragons hittless through four innings before being relieved with an 8-0 lead. Katy Harrington drove in Drexel's only runs of the game.
Wednesday's 3:00 p.m. game, which will be played at Drexel Field, is actually considered a home game for the Hawks as they transition to a new field this season and are playing without a true home field. Parking and admission are free at the Vidas Athletic Complex on 43rd and Powelton Ave. in Philadelphia. Drexel Field is located in the northwest corner of the complex.
