Philadelphia - Drexel women's lacrosse finished its season with a 19-7 defeat at the hands of No. 16 Hofstra. Seniors Becca Drylie-Perkins and Katie Lawson each scored three goals in their final game in a Drexel uniform. The two, along with Rachael Behnrdt, Nicole Musto, Mariana Uribe, Danielle Iacono and Krista Gerstenberger, were honored prior to the game as part of Senior Day festivities. The Dragons end their season with a 10-6 (2-5 CAA) record while Hofstra improved to 11-5 (5-2 CAA).
The game was tight early as Lawson answered an early Hofstra goal with a score with 22:52 remaining. However, the Pride retaliated just 25 seconds later on a Liz Falco goal that sparked a five-goal run that put Drexel in a deep hole. The Dragons halted the run with Drylie-Perkins' first goal and while Casey Kellogg answered for Hofstra, Drylie-Perkins notched another on a free-position shot to move Drexel to within 7-3 with 12:09 left in the first half. Once again, Hofstra went on a run as the Pride scored the next four goals to put the game out of reach as the visitors held an 11-3 advantage with 5:46 left in the half. The teams each scored a goal, including Lawson's second, to bring the game to the half with Hofstra holding a 12-4 lead.
Falco scored the second half's first two goals before Drexel put together a run of its own as Drylie-Perkins, Lawson and Alyse Maiden scored to prompt a time-out from the Hofstra sideline with the score at 14-7 with just under 13 minutes. Lawson's goal was the 50th of the season as she became just the second Drexel player to ever reach that mark in one season. Hofstra scored the final five goals of the contest, though, to deliver the 19-7 final. Corrine Gandolfi scored four goals while Falco and Ashley Jones added three apiece to lead Hofstra.
Hofstra held a slim 30-28 lead in shots while the Pride won 18 of the game's 27 draws. The Pride's goalies made 13 saves on the day while Behrndt and Whitney Johnson combined to stop three shots.
