Niagara Clips Women's Soccer 1-0 at Temple Owl Eyes Classic

Philadelphia - Drexel women's soccer (1-2) closed out play at the Temple Owl Eyes Classic with a narrow 1-0 loss to Niagara (2-1). The Dragons held the Purple Eagles off the board in the first half but a break for Niagara 12 minutes into the second half resulted in the decisive goal in the tight contest.
A scoreless first half saw both teams take four shots and a corner kick without finding the net. Drexel keeper Nicole Sinclair made three stops in the opening stanza before giving way to rookie Victoria Troccoli in the second half. Troccoli made two saves and yeilded the only goal of the match when she was beat by Laura Kimoto on a one-on-one situation in the 58th minute of play.
Niagara outshot Drexel 5-3 in the second period and the Purple Eagles' keeper Ashleigh Bowers made three stops in goal to earn the shutout.
Drexel also lost to Hartford in the opener of the Owl Eyes Classic, 2-0, on Friday. Jenna Lindsay, Biz Matta and Megan Mahon all earned places on the All-Tournament Team.
The Dragons are back in action on Sept. 3 when they travel to play Saint Joseph's on Hawk Hill at 5:00 p.m.
