Game One

Hillary Allen improved to 5-6 on the season with an excellent, complete-game performance. She scattered six Towson hits and three walks while allowing just one run. She also struck out five batters en route to the pitching victory.
The Dragons got to Towson's ace Katie Lingmai, scoring five runs in the last two innings after the Tigers held a 1-0 lead through the majority of the game. Drexel touched up the hurler for five earned runs in six and two-thirds innings of work, on six hits and three walks. Lingmai struck out eight Dragons in the loss.
Reading, who was one of the team's most dangerous sluggers last season in her rookie campaign, got her bat jump-started with a 2-for-3 performance, including a solo homer in the sixth inning.
Lindsey Kent gave Towson a 1-0 lead in the second inning by following a Courtney Wittner double with an RBI single. Lingmai and the Tigers clung to that advantage into the sixth inning.
Reading evened the game with a solo shot to start the sixth inning. Hillary Allen reached on a single and gave way to pinch runner Hanna Parrish. The change proved to be unnecessary as Harrington smashed a two-run homer, allowing her and Parrish to trot home and give the Dragons a 3-1 lead.
Aggressive base running allowed the Dragons to add two more runs in the seventh inning. Rachel Campbell too first after being hit by a pitch. She stole second base and advance to third on a passed ball. When Reading followed with a double, Campbell came in to score. Elena Fravel pinch ran for Reading at second base and the move paid off as the speedy Fravel scampered home on an RBI single by Paige Collings to put Drexel on top 5-1.
Allen retired the side with a strikeout a walk and a pair of fly outs to hold Towson off the board in the bottom of the seventh, sewing up her fifth victory of the season.

Jenn Reading, Laura Stagliano and Devon Metcalf were the only Dragons to record hits in the game.
Rookie Shelby Taylor fell victim to the Tigers' hot bats. She lasted two and one-third innings, giving up five runs on six hits before being relieved by Shyann Beach in the third inning. Beach threw the final three and two-thirds innings and let in two more runs on two hits and four walks.
Miller and Wittner put Towson on top 2-0 in the first inning with a home run and an RBI single, respectively. Towson was able to break open a 6-0 lead in the third inning when three straight singles and a bases-loaded plunking of Wittner pushed home a run. An RBI groundout followed by a two-run single by Kent gave the Tigers a commanding six-run lead.
Erica Stasch doubled in the fourth inning to plate Miller, who led off the inning with a walk, and close out scoring for the Tigers.
Laura Stagliano was the only Dragon to reach scoring position when she singled in the first and sole second base. She took third on a ground out by Reading, but the effort fell short when Paige Collings struck out to end the inning.
The teams will close out the series on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. opening pitch.
