Drexel Hosts Conference Rival Towson on Friday Night

Philadelphia – The Drexel women's field hockey team hosts the Towson Tigers on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Buckley Field. The Dragons enter the contest 7-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play after falling to VCU, 4-2, on Sunday in Richmond, Va.
The Dragons return to University City after competing in two-straight away games. Last weekend, freshman Alexandra Atiyeh and Meghan Plank scored their first collegiate goals in the 4-3 double overtime and penalty stroke victory over James Madison.
Drexel leads the all-time series 17-8-4. Last season, Kim Tunell scored with just over two minutes into overtime to help Drexel defeat Towson, 4-3. Drexel outshot Towson, 26-10, for the game and earned 11 penalty corners to the Tigers' four. The win allowed the Dragons to host the CAA Championships.
The Tigers' five game winning streak came to an end last Sunday after falling to James Madison, 1-0. Towson moved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in CAA play. Senior midfielder Kim Schnell leads the team with five goals and an assist for 11 total points, while teammate Katie DeFilippo leads the Tigers with five assists. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Christina Siwiec has 45 saves on the season.
