PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's tennis team completed a three-match homestand on Sunday with a convincing victory over Coppin State. The Dragons won 7-0, taking all but nine games and not dropping a set all afternoon.
Drexel opened with back-to-back 8-0 victories in doubles to take that point. Bryan Nguyen and Skyler Davis blanked their opponents at No. 1 doubles, while Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Dan Hansen did the same at No. 2. Dan Koehler and Dan Talone won by forfeit at No. 3 after the doubles point was decided.
Nguyen and Davis wasted little time dispatching of their opponents at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, winning both those matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Playing at No. 2, Jeganathan Srinivasan clinched the win for Drexel when he took a 6-2, 6-0 match. Paul Stauskas did the same at No. 5.
The most competitive match of the day came at the top of the ladder, where Ouabdelmoumen was tested by Coppin State's Oleksiy Krylchuk. Even so, Ouabdelmoumen was able to take care of business, winning 6-2, 6-3.
The sixth position, which would have been held down by Hansen on the Drexel end, was forfeited to the Dragons.
The Dragons will now hit the road for their next two matches, at Navy next Sunday at noon and at Lehigh a week from then.
