Philadelphia - The Drexel men's lacrosse team hosts another national-power this weekend as Notre Dame comes to Vidas Field. The No. 18 Dragons host the No. 9 Fighting Irish on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Drexel is 1-2 this season after dropping a 14-9 decision at No. 8 Villanova on Tuesday night. Kyle Bergman had four assists and five points for the Dragons in the game. Drexel fell behind early and was down 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Dragons fought back but couldn't get closer than that the rest of the way. Aaron Prosser and Brendan Glynn each scored a pair of goals. Robert Church added three points.
Bergman leads the team with six assists and 11 points. Church has seven goals and 10 points, while Glynn has six goals in the Dragons' three games. Mark Manos has started all three games and was the goalie at Drexel two years ago, when the Dragons knocked off the Irish in Philadelphia.
Notre Dame is 1-1. The Fighting Irish opened the season with an impressive 7-3 win against Duke. However, the Irish were upset last weekend, as Penn State went on the road and came away with a 4-3 win. Ryan Foley, Max Pfeifer and Jim Marlett each have two goals this season. John Kemp is the starter in the cage and has allowed just seven goals in the team's first two games this season.
