Drexel's Stephen Kasprzyk and U.S. Men's Eight Advance to the Finals at Olympic Qualification Regatta

Lucerne, Switzerland – Former Drexel University rower Stephen Kasprzyk will advance with the U.S. men's eight boat to the finals at the 2012 Final Olympic Qualification Regatta hosted in Lucerne, Switzerland. The men's eight along with five other U.S. crews will take the Rotsee Regatta Course on Tuesday, May 22 for a chance to secure a spot in the 2012 Olympic Games.
The U.S. men's eight defeated New Zealand and France in the most anticipated race on Sunday. The boat features Drexel standout Stephen Kasprzyk (Cinnaminson, N.J.) along with Grant James (DeKalb, Ill.), David Banks (Potomac, Md.) Jake Cornelius (Brooktondale, N.Y.), Brett Newlin (Riverton, Wyo.), Ross James (DeKalb, Ill.), Will Miller (Duxbury, Mass.) and Giuseppe Lanzone (Annandale, Va.).
During his tenure at Drexel, Kasprzyk helped the men's freshman eight qualify at the 2001 IRA National Championships. The following season, he rowed in the men's varsity eight boat that placed fifth in the finals at the 2002 Dad Vail Regatta.
