Box Score
Freshman Gabby Dixon made her first goal a memorable one as she scored in double overtime to give Drexel a 2-1 win at Villanova. The Dragons gave up a goal in the first two minutes but rallied for their second straight win. They also handed the Wildcats (1-1-1) their first loss of the season.
Dixon scored in the 108th minute, converting on a cross and firing a shot into the low corner to earn the victory for the visitors. Jess Sarkisian set up the game-winner with her first assist of the campaign.
Earlier in the second half, the Dragons tied the game at 1-1 thanks to senior tri-captain Jess Lowinger. She got the ball out of a crowd in front of the net and beat the Wildcats' keeper in the 65th minute.
The Wildcats wasted little time in racing out to an early 1-0 lead. Heidi Sabatura got the Wildcats on the board with a header. She put the shot home after a scramble in front of the net after a Villanova corner kick. That would be all the 'Cats would get, as goalkeeper Eve Badana turned aside four shots after giving up the early goal to post the win.
Drexel will open its home season on Monday afternoon at Vidas Field. The Dragons face UMBC in a non-conference match beginning at 1 p.m.
