HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Drexel softball team was swept over the weekend at James Madson, falling in the series finale on Saturday, 11-1. Shelby Taylor took the loss for the Dragons, who are still in search of their first Colonial Athletic Association victory of the season.

As was the case in both games during Friday's doubleheader, the Dragons fell behind early and could not come back. James Madison scored five runs in the first inning, four of which were earned. The Dukes added a run in the third and five more in the fourth, capped by a two-run home run off the bat of Haley Johnson that gave James Madison its final ten-run margin.

Drexel got three hits on the day, scoring in the top of the fourth when Taylor led off with a walk and came around to score when Jill Popek was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs. That would be all the Dragons could muster, however. Taylor got one of Drexel's hits in the fifth inning, a single to left-center field. Maggy Fermo had a first-inning double and Rose Portiolli singled in the Dragons' run-scoring fourth inning.

The Dragons will now be off for the rest of the week, as they prepare to take on Hofstra in a three-game series at home beginning next Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. doubleheader.
