Philadelphia - The Drexel men's lacrosse team will look for its fourth straight win on Saturday when Bryant University visits West Philadelphia. The Dragons and Bulldogs face-off at 1 p.m at Vidas Field.
The Bulldogs were predicted to be one of the top teams in the Northeast Conference, but have got off to a rough start. Thee Bulldogs have had a challenging non-conference schedule and have come up just short in the early going. Bryant is 0-4 with two losses coming in overtime (Colgate and Vermont) and the other two coming by just two goals (Fairfield and Bucknell). Alex Zomerfeld leads the team with seven goals and 12 points. Shane Morrell and Brian Schlansker each have seven points.
The Dragons are 3-1 and have averaged more than 14 goals per game. Ryan Belka has 10 goals and has three straight games with three goals. He leads the team with 18 points. Ben McIntosh is the top goal scorer with 11 and has 17 points. Robert Church, coming off a five goal, two assist game at Robert Morris, has 14 points. Nick Trizano, Aaron Prosser and Frank Fusco all have more than 10 points through the first four games. Will Gabrielsen has started all four games in the cage.
Bryant and Drexel have played two memorable games the last few seasons. In the last meeting at Vidas Field in 2011, Drexel's Kyle Bergman scored in the fourth overtime as the Dragons outlasted the Bulldogs, 8-7. Last season, Drexel built a five-goal lead in Rhode Island, but Bryant came from behind to win, 7-6.
