PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel softball season came to an end on Saturday as they fell to George Mason, 1-0. Drexel was shut out for the third time in three games against the Patriots as the Dragons finished the seasoon 15-36.
Shyann Beach started and took the loss for the Dragons, giving up a first inning run that the Patriots made stand up. Shelby Taylor and Tara Konopka combined for five scoreless innings from there on in.
Four straight singles to open the bottom of the first got the Patriots on the board after the Dragons stranded two runners in scoring position in the top of the first.
Drexel was held down offensively, managing just three hits. Hanna Parrish and Shelby Taylor singled in the first. The Dragons got another hit from Jill Popek to lead off the fifth, but she was eliminated on a 5-4-3 double play later in the frame.
