COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior goalkeeper Jantien Gunter set a new career-high with 16 saves as the Dragons fell to No. 2 Maryland, 8-3, on Sunday afternoon. The Terrapins had a three-goal spurt in the beginning of the first half and held onto the lead for the remainder of the contest hosted at Maryland's Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. The Dragons split the weekend finishing with a 2-2 record, while the Terrapins improved to 4-0 overall.

After three goals by Maryland in the opening 10 minutes of play, the Dragons were able to take control in the Terrapins' circle. Senior co-captain Lindsay McArdle scored off of a pass from junior Christina Conrad. Three minutes later, Conrad reverse-chipped the ball into the goal bringing the game within one-point, 3-2. Maryland's Sarah Sprink and Mieke Hayn added goals before halftime as the Dragons trailed, 5-2, after 35 minutes of play.

The Terrapins' tallied three additional goals in the second half. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, senior co-captain Elise DiDonato turned up field and crossed the ball to teammate Meghan Plank, who found the back of the cage. Despite the Dragons' late offensive effort in the final minute of play, Maryland finished with an 8-3 advantage over Drexel.

The Dragons will return to action on Friday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. as the squad hosts Bucknell at Buckley Field.
