PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team fell to Towson, 5-0, on Senior Day at Drexel Field. Seniors Comfort Ahonkhai, Rose Portiolli, Shelby Taylor, and Maddison Timoteo were honored prior to the first pitch.
The Tigers struck early, as Mo Hepner hit a home run with two runners on in the first inning to give Towson a 3-0 lead. They added another two runs the following inning as Hailey Balk put the ball in play with the bases loaded and two batters later Missy McCormick hit a sacrifice fly to bring in another run.
The Dragons left six runners on base throughout the game. Despite the effort, Drexel was unable to overcome the deficit which allowed Towson to take the two-day series, 2-1.
With the loss, the Dragons move to 17-19 overall and 4-8 in conference play, while Towson improves to 24-18, 4-5 CAA.
Drexel returns to action on Thursday when the team will travel to Delaware State for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
