PHILADELPHIA- Christina Conrad had a hat-trick and Rachel Sumfest recorded two goals and two assists to power the Dragons past Siena 6-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons improve to 2-0 on the season and Siena drops to 0-1.
Conrad did not waste time to start the scoring, getting the Dragons on the board just 2:09 into the game. The senior then scored again at the 8:52 mark to double the Drexel advantage.
After assisting on the first two Dragon goals, Sumfest scored the next two goals for the Dragons at the 26:18 mark and then eleven minutes later.
Conrad finished off the hat-trick 10 minutes into the second half off an assist from Meghan Plank. Plank record three assists on the afternoon. Allyson Fuller rounded out the scoring for the Dragons with her first of the season with just under 20 minutes to play off a feed from Margaux Lourtie.
The Dragons defense thwarted the Siena attack and held them without a shot on the afternoon. Drexel held a 16-0 advantage in shots and an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Jantien Gunter started for the Dragons in net and recorded her 30th win of her career and first shutout of the season. Ainslie Rhoads came on for the final 16:10 to preserve the shutout.
The Dragons travel to Durham, New Hampshire to face the Wildcats of the University of New Hampshire on Friday, September 5. The next home game is on September 26 when Rider comes to Buckley Field.
