Field Hockey Welcomes Rider on Friday

PHILADELPHIA – After playing three straight ranked opponents away from Buckley Field the Dragons return home to host the Broncs of Rider on Friday night at 6 p.m. The game kicks off a stretch of seven of eight games at home for Drexel.
Drexel went 2-3 on their five-game road trip with wins at Fairfield and more recently at then-No. 13 Temple, 1-0 in overtime. The last home game for the Dragons was a 6-0 win over Siena back on August 31.
The Broncs and the Dragons have met 21 times in their histories with the Dragons holding a 10-9-2 advantage. Last season the Dragons prevailed with a 2-1 when the Broncs came to Buckley Field.
Rider is coming off a 2-1 win at CAA member Towson this past Sunday. Dezarae Fillmyer leads Rider in points with nine (4g - 1a) on the season. Allison Baligian is second on the team with six points and Carlie Spaeder is third with four points. In goal for Rider is Joelle Prettyman, who has started six of seven games. Prettyman has posted a 1.46 goals against average and a .737 save percentage.
Jantien Gunter was named the CAA Player of the Week after helping the Dragons beat the then-No. 13 Temple Owls on the road 1-0 in overtime this past Sunday. The senior leads the CAA in both GAA (0.88) and save percentage (.854). Gunter ranks sixth and fourth in Division I respectively in those categories.
Gunter also ranks second among active players in save percentage (.784) for her career. She also ranks in the Top 10 in saves, goals against average and shutouts.
Christina Conrad is tied for fourth in the CAA in goals with four. Rachel Sumfest is tied for ninth in points with 11 on the season.
On Sunday the Dragons take on the visiting Golden Flashes of Kent State at 12 p.m. at Buckley Field.
