Women’s Swimming and Diving Capitalizes Against Loyola, Lafayette

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's swimming and diving team continued its strong start to the 2015-16 campaign with wins against Loyola, 176.5-122.5, and Lafayette, 217-81, on Saturday in Baltimore, Md.
Junior Aubrey Murray earned four wins on the day. Individually, she won the 100 free (53.86) and 200 free (1:54.98). And as part of the relay team, she helped earn victories in the 200 medley relay (1:48.84) and 400 free relay (3:37.29).
Fellow junior Rachel Bernhardt also emerged victorious in all four of her events, winning the 100 breast (1:06.88) and 200 breast (2:23.13). Bernhardt also helped win both relay events with Murray.
Freshman April Forsthoffer was part of the 200 medley relay win in addition to individual wins in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.29 and 200 IM at 2:11.10. She also finished second in the 100 fly as she touched the wall at 59.18.
Sophomore Miranda Rouse won both the 500 and 1000 freestyle events. In the 500, Rouse finished first with a time of 5:12.52. In the 1000, she finished tops at 10:45.52. Freshman Niki Fistrovic came in second to Rouse in the 1000 free at 10:48.99.
Junior Emily Lau won the 50 free at 24.74 and sophomore Gillian Gress earned a win in the 200 back with a time of 2:07.21.
In the diving portion, senior Madison Kramer earned first in the 1m with a total score of 273.05 while junior Jaclyn Goulet finished second in the 3m at 236.09.
The women's and men's swimming and diving teams will now head to Fairfax, Md. on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31 to face George Mason, Towson and Northeastern.
