CATONSVILLE, Md. – Jacob Jordan returned to the starting lineup for the Drexel men's soccer team and put together a solid effort, but it was not enough as the Dragons fell at UMBC on Tuesday night, 1-0. The Retrievers scored in the 52nd minute to break a scoreless deadlock and provide the margin of victory in Drexel's eighth-straight defeat.
Jordan, who had not played since October 14 at Delaware, came up with four saves on the Retrievers' six shots on goal. Drexel also got a team save when a defender cleared a UMBC shot off the line. The Dragons (2-14-1) had six total shots on the evening, without one going on target.
Michael Burgos netted the game's only goal, scoring off a feed from Gregg Hauck to put UMBC on top. Francisco Rodrigues da Palma had a pair of shots for the Dragons, but they could not mount a comeback after the Retrievers grabbed the second-half lead.
Drexel will return home on Saturday afternoon for its final home game and final Colonial Athletic Association match of 2015. The Dragons will host Northeastern at 4:00 p.m. at Vidas Field. The game will be preceded by the team's annual Senior Day ceremony, in which the Dragons will recognize graduate student defender Nick Bolton.
