Dragons Open CAA Play Today

The Drexel golf team begins play in the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Championships this morning.The three-day event will be played at the St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C., for the third straight year. The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday afternoon with the winning team and the individual medalist earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. The teams teed off this morning at 8 a.m.
The nine CAA teams will play on the par 72, 6,784-yard Founders Club. Delaware, Towson, and William & Mary will open the event off the first tee. UNCW, Drexel, and College of Charleston will follow in the second group, while James Madison, Elon, and Hofstra will be the final pairings.
The Drexel five that will compete for the CAA title include Player of the Year Candidiate Chris Crawford. The junior leads the CAA in scoring average. He will be joined by sophomores Yoseph Dance and Brian Fischer and freshmen Adam Mistretta and Avery Schneider.
Play continues on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude on Sunday when action begins at 8:00 a.m. on split tees followed by the award ceremony. Official pairings will be set Thursday evening and will be posted on CAA Men's Golf Championship Central. Three-hole live scoring will be available via GolfStat.com. .
