Women’s Swimming and Diving Concludes First Weekend of Competition in Philadelphia

Saturday Results vs. Villanova and La Salle
PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's swimming and diving team concluded the first weekend of competition after facing Villanova and La Salle in Villanova, Pa. on Saturday afternoon.
The Dragons defeated the Explorers, 226-74, but fell to the Wildcats, 177.5-122.5.
Senior Rachel Bernhardt won two individual events on Saturday including the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes with times of 1:02.51 and 2:17.57. Her 100-yard time broke the Villanova pool record.
The Dragons also broke the 200-yard medley relay pool record at Villanova behind a performance by freshman Alexa Kutch, Bernhardt, sophomore April Forsthoffer and sophomore transfer Emily Kosten at 1:44.77.
Individually, Kosten also won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles at 23.86 and 51.50.
Senior Madison Kramer grabbed first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 250.00 and 266.50.
Kutch finished second in both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes at 57.10 and 2:06.32.
The squad now heads down to Baltimore, Md. next weekend to face Loyola and Johns Hopkins on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29.
