Villanova Defeats Softball in Midweek Matchup

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Drexel softball team fell to the neighboring Villanova Wildcats in five innings on Tuesday, 12-0. The Wildcats' three home runs in the outing, including two from Dana Morris, would usher Villanova on to the victory.
The Wildcats got off to an early lead as Morris hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first. Nikki Alden added to Villanova's lead in the third with a solo home run of her own, making it a 4-0 game. The Wildcats would go on to score a total of seven runs in the inning to take a 10-0 lead after three.
Villanova would tack on an additional two runs in the bottom of the fourth to create a 12-0 deficit that the Dragons would not be able to overcome.
With the loss, the Dragons move to 14-14 on the season. Drexel returns to action tomorrow as the squad is set to welcome Lafayette to Vidas Field for the 2015-16 home opener. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
